Nebraskan Thoughts

About Me

Shannon Geis

My name is Shannon Geis and I am a journalism and politics double major at New York University. I am originally from a small town in Nebraska named Beaver Crossing, but I moved to New York City for college. I am interested in print and radio journalism and feel that journalism is an important part of our lives. As journalists we have the power to influence and affect our readers, listeners, and viewers. I take that responsibility very seriously and I work hard to create things that spark the attention and curiosity of those who experience them.

I encourage you to read through my blog. It is called Nebraskan Thoughts because, although I have moved far away from my roots (in both location and mentality), I have found that the way I view the world around me has much to do with where I come from.

So look around. Read my articles, listen to my radio pieces, and watch my videos. I hope that you will enjoy experiencing them as much as I enjoyed creating them. And if you are interested in reading or listening to some of the other work I’ve done, check out my clips page or my portfolio at PRX.

Thanks for reading!

    Dear Shannon,

This is fascinating! How do you learn to do all this? I’ve never even sent a text message. I am glad I visited our site, and am happy that you are doing things with the Brooklyn Paper. You rock.
